PTE surgery
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is the only type of pulmonary hypertension (PH) that’s potentially curable by a type of surgery called PTE, or pulmonary thromboendarterectomy. This type of surgery has been shown to improve heart function and reduce CTEPH symptoms, making breathing easier.
Is PTE surgery right for you?
If you have been diagnosed with CTEPH, you should have an operability assessment to find out if PTE surgery is right for you. An experienced CTEPH team will assess you based on where you have blockages in your lungs, your overall health, and any other diseases you may have. If you find out you’re eligible for PTE surgery, talk to your doctor about scheduling the procedure right away.
